~ MICUP is an acronym for Michigan College and University Partnerships ~

Community College Students—
Do you want to further your education?

Michigan Tech's "Unlock Your Future" Program helps community college students transfer to a four-year institution to earn a baccalaureate degree.

"Unlock Your Future" offers a six-week summer program that addresses the opportunities and challenges for students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree.

"Unlock Your Future" will allow you to become acquainted with Michigan Tech. It also provides support for a positive and smooth transition to our campus.

The program includes academic tutoring and comprehensive advising. You will live on the University campus while you complete an undergraduate internship with a faculty member and graduate students. This experience strengthens your academic background in your major. You are also able to enroll in a university-level course.

"Unlock Your Future" encourages academically and economically disadvantaged students as well as minority students, Hispanic-American, Native American, and African-American, to continue their education beyond community college.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has determined that, over the course of an average career, an individual with a bachelor's degree will earn $376,000 more than someone with an associate's degree.

Join us. We can help you go places!

Sponsored by State of Michigan’s King-Chavez-Parks Initiative, the intent of this program is to increase the number of academically or economically disadvantaged students and/or from those who would otherwise not adequately be represented in the student population, who are seeking careers in Business, Computer Science, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Secondary Education, or Technology.

Quotes from past MICUP participants:

Leydi Roa,
Business, GRCC

"The program MICUP helped me learned more about the carrier I want to study, and I feel more confident about the choice I had made.  Attending MTU, and living at the dorms gave me a sense in what to expect when I transfer to a four year university in the future.

“The MTU program gave me a experience in what to expect in my future career. The internship helped me learned more about the carrier I want to study. Being away from home made me realize that attending a four-year university is not that scary. At the dorms you will find friendly students and friendly faculty at MTU campus.  In the program you will find students that are in the same position as you. Now that I had attended this program, I'm convince that I can attend a four-year university. I really recommend students to be participators of this program, it is going to help you know more of the career you have chosen, and that attending a four-year university is not a challenge."
